Junkers G 24a

Simple but fair kit. Gross detail in some parts, but good nevertheless. No putty is needed. Trailing edges are fairly thick but I found no way to amend it because of wing surface corrugation. Cockpit detail is sparse but correct. Decals are horrible, disintegrated on touching the water. I substituted them for hand made decals (clear film and Lettrasett). Ladders and engine handles were scratch built as the kit parts were too thick. The undercarriage also suffered from lack of detail and I changed some parts with scratch built items.

Version : Junkers G24a named Helios in 1924 and Rotterdam in 1925, Werk Num. 843. First coded in Sweden as S-AAAK (1924-25) and latter on H-NADE in The Nederland's (1926), and last D-1019 at Germany (1927-28). In 1934 crashed and was totally destroyed. Then it was a single-engined F24 (conversion in May1928). This plane took part as S-AAK in the seven Nations Flight. Route : Berlin (20.6.1925), Danzing, Malmö, Copenhagen, Zurich, Vienna, Berlin-Tempelhof (25.6.1925)
